On 14 October 2009, India and Argentina signed in New Delhi a civil nuclear cooperation agreement and nine other pacts for the creation of a strategic partnership. According to official sources, the agreement was signed by Vivek Katju, secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Talana. Taking into account their respective capabilities and experience in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, India and Argentina agreed to promote and support scientific, technical and commercial cooperation in this field.
